Over the past year, I know that I’ve mentioned my love of film. I adore everything about it. The way it looks, the way it feels, and the way it makes me slow way down! (I am a horrible over shooter) However, it made me slow down almost too much (like I more than doubled the amount of rolls I shot all of last year during this 5 week workshop!) This had me searching for tutorials and guidance when I stumbled upon a new workshop that the photography forum was offering: Embrace the Grain with Joyce Kang. I just kept going back to that link over and over again waiting for the sign up day.
Joyce provided us with so much information, I honestly could not ask for anything more. She covered everything from camera choices to film stocks. I loved learning how to really meter each specific film stock in different lighting conditions. I literally wanted to run out and try every single film on the market!
Both Joyce and Heather Chang (our amazing TA) were so quick and informative in their responses to our questions and assignments. They were both so incredibly encouraging when we were discussing new film stocks, camera choices and to try new things!
If you have been thinking you might want to learn how to shoot film (even though you’ve never shot a roll of film in your life) or even if you’ve been shooting film and just want to learn more, this class is for YOU! I highly recommend that you don’t delay and sign up for the next run of Embrace the Grain with Joyce Kang at In Beauty and Chaos!
And to leave you inspired, check out the work of the fabulous instructor Joyce Kang and the awesome TA Heather Chang.
Now here are “some” images that I captured on my Canon EOS3 and my Pentax 645n during this workshop…yeah I shot over ten rolls…
